Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP)

Overview

MACS adopts the Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP) to differentiate between an oral language difficulty and EAL/D factors. The DAP  is an approach to assessment that incorporates an element of teaching during the assessment process. It also involves clarification of a language area of concern and then designing and implementing targeted teaching, monitoring and documenting the progress.

The DAP is dynamic in that it assesses the potential to learn and acquire cognitive strategies for language learning, as well as assessing current skills in language.
